Do not take the floor
Lower Chapel is the room where Verrik floods the space with gas. The published route is consistent: do not stick to the ground and run right. That triggers the gas at once. Go up, then left. Use the glaive to smash the crystal and cut the rope that blocks the path. Those can be the same swing.
When the gas starts to rise, leave. Fighting it, or hunting a side crystal while it climbs, ends the loop. A pit fall is the same result. Steam discussion posts treat a drop here as a wiped loop, not a soft respawn.
The second pass
Before you warp back on a new loop, pick up a time crystal to the right. You will spend that time on the return. The back half of the chapel wants Folding — pulling yourself to the blade — and two glaive uses to open the left-hand passage.
One wiki lists an alias, “Altar Veridian,” for Verrik. No other source I checked uses that name, so this page does not. The character is Verrik. His later beats are on the NPC page, timed to the hand-bell.
Show a stronger hint
If the left passage will not open, you are throwing at the crystal and missing the rope, or you have not learned Folding yet. Folding is a Revelation, not a shop upgrade.
Show the sourced solution
Up, left, glaive through crystal and rope, then exit as the gas rises. Return with a fresh crystal. Open the left passage with Folding and two glaive strikes. Do not treat a pit fall as recoverable inside the same loop.
